Daredemo Beach : An Inclusive Beach Experience for Everyone in Japan

Imagine a beach where everyone—regardless of disability, health condition, age, or background—can enjoy the sand between their toes, the ocean breeze, and the peaceful rhythm of the waves. That’s the essence of Daredemo Beach.

What's Daredemo Beach?

“Daredemo” means “anyone” in Japanese—and that’s exactly who this beach is for. Located in Japan and powered by the passion of its chief director, Kyogo Nishida, Daredemo Beach is a growing movement that champions inclusivity and accessibility through real-world solutions and powerful storytelling.

This isn’t just about having access ramps or designated seating. Daredemo Beach offers a truly barrier-free beach experience where everyone—from wheelchair users and families with strollers to people with chronic conditions or limited mobility—can enjoy nature on their own terms.

Central to this experience is the use of Mobi-mat®, an innovative roll-out pathway system distributed in Japan by MONO well-being Co., Ltd. This smart, flexible flooring makes it easy to navigate sandy beaches and grassy parks alike, opening up spaces that were previously out of reach for many.

Daredemo Beach operates with a simple, powerful mission: to create a beach that everyone can enjoy—without exceptions.

Whether you have a disability, a temporary injury, or just wore the wrong shoes, accessibility should never be a barrier to enjoying the beach. Daredemo Beach is built on three core principles :

1.Be open -Accessibility is not a special occasion—it’s a way of life.

Many public spaces create “accessible” areas that are separate or restrictive. Daredemo Beach does the opposite: the Mobi-mat® is rolled out right down the center of the beach, offering full, equal access to everyone. Whether you're using a wheelchair, pushing a stroller, or just want to walk in sneakers, you can stroll comfortably along the shoreline..

This inclusivity extends to events like outdoor festivals, beach markets, and even glamping setups. The Mobi-mat becomes a shared path that supports both comfort and dignity, helping everyone move freely and confidently.

2. Be frequent- Accessibility shouldn’t be once a summer—it should be consistent.

While many similar initiatives operate on fixed, rare dates, Daredemo Beach hosts accessible beach days almost every other weekend. This regularity is essential, especially for those living with chronic health conditions or unpredictable schedules.

By offering multiple opportunities throughout the season, Daredemo Beach meets people where they are—when they’re able to come. Because true accessibility isn’t just about physical infrastructure—it’s about flexibility and presence.

3. Be boundless - Inclusive initiatives keep expanding its scope.

Daredemo Beach works closely with World Park, inc. at Sunset Beach Park Inage, a lively waterfront destination with a beautiful pier, popular glamping spots, and a buzzing market scene. With their support, Mobi-mat® has been successfully integrated not just on the beach, but across the park’s many event areas.

Daredemo Beach is now taking the next step—beyond the beach and into the city. With “Daredemo” (anyone) as its guiding word, it's introducing city walks as another way to create simple, everyday moments of belonging. Just like on the beach, the focus is on making ordinary moments accessible, enjoyable, and shared by all. Whether by the sea, in the city, or out in nature, what matters is keeping everyday life open to everyone. More Than a Beach—A Model for the Future. Daredemo Beach isn’t just transforming one shoreline. It’s setting a new standard for how public spaces can welcome everyone. By demonstrating what’s possible when accessibility is prioritized, they’re planting the seeds for more inclusive destinations across Japan—and beyond.

“We believe that by making our beaches more inclusive, we aren’t just helping individuals with special needs—we’re creating better, more thoughtful public spaces for everyone” says founder Kyogo Nishida.  “And as more communities adopt the Daredemo model, we hope to see a ripple effect across beaches everywhere, because everyone deserves a day at the beach.”

Daredemo Beach is not only redefining beach access—it’s actively sharing its progress and inspiring others to do the same. If you're interested in inclusive design, accessible events, or bringing Mobi-mat® to your own location, you can connect directly with the team:
